The Councilor is a lifetime designation and title awarded to deserving members of the various chapters for their outstanding contribution to the accounting profession and exceptional services to their chapters, to the NCPACA and their community. After the initial year of the award program, only a maximum of ten awardees are chosen every year. Nominees are fielded during the year and evaluated by the Award Selection Committee. Selected nominees are recognized and awarded with the Lifetime Achievement Award in person at the NCPACA Annual Professional Development Convention (held in a major city of USA or Canada).
The Councilors form the core of Board of Councilors. The Board of Councilors does not supplant the governance of the Council but contribute to make the Council grow better and stronger. The Councilors elect their officers every two years - governor and secretary/general. Their terms coincide with the elected Executive Officers of NCPACA.
Currently serving the Board of Councilors as the Governor is Stella Marie Santos, a member of Chicago Chapter (Philippine Certified Accountants of Greater Chicago) and as the Secretary General is Neva Fajardo, a member of New York Chapter (Association of Filipino-American Accountants). The members of the Selection Committee are Rina Buenaventura (Chairperson-Houston), Kim Villanueva (Seattle), Imelda Bautista (Toronto), Josie Domingo (New Jersey), Neva Fajardo (New York), Tony Silvano (Chicago), David Pagsibigan (Washington DC), Selena Franco (San Francisco), Noemi Santos (Los Angeles)
Each year, the NCPCA Board of Councilors presents awards annually to deserving members, but no one expected the global pandemic that changed the world in 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic presented a disruption never before experienced in modern times. Our economies, our social lives, and the very fabric of our cultures were thrown upside down, almost overnight. When lockdowns and stay at home orders went into effect, we at NCPACA are no exception, our 2020 Convention was cancelled.
This year, 2021, for the very first time a virtual NCPACA convention was organized. This digital experience that imitated real life and replacing in person events.
During the last few months, the Award committee went through processing nominations, virtual meetings, examination, and evaluation of this year’s awardees.
Today, at the NCPACA Virtual Convention we are awarding five (5) deserving Councilors for their outstanding achievements and contributions to NCPACA and their respective communities.
Congratulations to the new Councilors!
